Blackley

Blackley spent parts of four big-league seasons with the Giants, Mariners, Athletics, Astros and Rangers. The 38-year-old southpaw last appeared in the majors back in 2013. He finishes with a 5.23 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 132/81 K/BB ratio across 192 2/3 innings.

Blackley should be a candidate for Seattle’s rotation at this time next year. He’ll pitch for Triple-A Tacoma in 2004.

Good to see. Blackley had been roughed up in both of his starts since being sent down. As long as he finishes strong for Tacoma, he’ll rejoin the Mariners next month.

Blackley gave up two runs and four hits before leaving.

He posted a 9.00 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in five games with the big club. Blackley is no safe bet to make it back up to the majors again this season.

Blackley was signed to a minor league contract this winter. The 29-year-old left-hander hasn’t appeared in a major league game since the 2007 season.

He will rest for three weeks before resuming any baseball related activities.

Blackley was designated for assignment by the Giants on Sunday after posting a 9.00 ERA over five appearances with the big club. The A’s transferred Joey Devine to the 60-day disabled list in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, but they still need to make room for him on the active roster.

Blackley struck out two in falling to 0-2. Unimpressive through his first two turns in Oakland’s rotation, Blackley is off the radar outside all but the deepest of AL-only leagues.
