The Rockies will stick with interim Warren Schaeffer as their manager next season.
Schaeffer replaced Bud Black in May and led the team to a 36-86 record the rest of the way. That sounds bad and it is, but the Rockies were 7-33 under Black. The 40-year-old Schaeffer is a Rockies lifer. As a light-hitting infielder, he played in the team’s farm system from 2007-12 before going into coaching. He was serving as third base coach before becoming interim manager.

The Rockies announced after Sunday’s victory over the Padres that manager Bud Black and bench coach Mike Redmond have been relieved of their duties.
The Rockies have played terrible baseball so far and own a league-worst 7-33 record, so the move is definitely justified, though it would have made much more sense after Saturday night’s shellacking at the hand of the Padres. Third base coach Warren Schaeffer will take over as the team’s interim manager for the duration of the 2025 season while Clint Hurdle will function as the team’s interim bench coach.
