After Road America runner-up, Kanaan is now due for win in Iowa

Two weeks ago, Tony Kanaan turned in arguably one of the best road or street course drives of his career, coming up just short of breaking a roughly year and a half winless drought at the KOHLER Grand Prix at Road America.

Now the driver of the No. 10 NTT Data Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet will head to one of his most successful tracks, Iowa Speedway, looking to capitalize on his recent run of form there and finally get back to the top step of the podium.

He won the race in 2010 but he’s come closest to doing so again the last two year since joining Ganassi.

Kanaan has led 317 laps at Iowa Speedway in the last two years - 247 in 2014 and 70 last year. An engine issue took him out last year but prior to that, he’d come third of each the previous three years (2012 to 2014) and second in 2011, after winning in 2010.

For a driver who hasn’t won since the 2014 season finale at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and considering how close he was to winning at Road America two weeks ago, Kanaan, driver is due to break through.

“We’re coming off a really great race at Road America last weekend and I’m looking forward to NTT Data Chip Ganassi Racing keeping the momentum going this weekend in Iowa,” he said.

“It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of the short ovals, especially Iowa Speedway. It can be one of the more challenging tracks with the G forces and high banking, but the racing is always very exciting for both the fans and the drivers. The fans are so supportive in Iowa and really show their love of Indy car racing, so we look forward to coming back as a series to put on a good show for them.”
