Sacha Coenen tops Southwick 250 qualification over Cole Davies

Visiting rider Sacha Coenen (1:56.691) posted the fastest time in qualification at The Wick 338 in Southwick, Massachusetts. He was nearly two seconds (1.839) faster than the field in the first session.

Cole Davies (1:57.258) was one of the few riders who improved his time in the second session. He improved his Qualification 1 time by 1.7 seconds and closed on Coenen. He was fastest in that session, which more closely resembles the track riders will face in the motos.

Lucas Coenen joined his brother Sacha Coenen at the top of their respective leaderboards to give the Belgian twins the sweep.

Coenen and Davies are playing in the sandbox for the first time in their careers.

Qualification at The Wick 338 is a unique experience. The sandy track ruts quickly, which means that Group B in the 250 session facing the best conditions in Round 23 of the SuperMotocross World Championship, and that contributed to some fresh faces in the top five.

WMX star Charli Cannon’s brother, Jake Cannon (1:58.445) posted the third fastest time overall. He was joined in the top five by Larry Fortin (1:58.446).

Levi Kitchen (1:58.530) rounded out the top five. He struggled in the last two rounds and needs to bounce back.

Kayden Minear (1:58.667) was sixth overall with Julien Beaumer (1:58.739) seventh. They will be fast when track conditions equalize.

Beaumer crashed in the second session, but he picked his bike up and continued.

Jo Shimoda (1:59.778) also had a big off in the second qualification session. He required attention from the track to remount. He rode a couple of cautious laps and then returned to the hauler. Shimoda landed awkwardly on a jump and crashed over his handlebars.

The second session was interrupted by a red flag for Nick Romano (1:59.972), who wound up 12th overall.
