United Fiber & Data is set to return to Andretti Autosport, in an associate sponsorship role for the Nos. 27 and 28 Dallara-Hondas driven by Marco Andretti and Ryan Hunter-Reay respectively, for the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season.
“We’re excited to have United Fiber & Data back on board for the 2016 season,” team owner Michael Andretti said. “Through our years together, we’ve shared success both on and off the track. We’re looking forward to the next chapter of our partnership in support of UFD’s business objectives.”
It’s the third year of partnership between the team and UFD.
IndyCar fans or keen-eyed observers will remember UFD had a major presence with Andretti Autosport in 2014, as primary sponsor of both James Hinchcliffe and Matthew Brabham, the latter driver in Indy Lights.
The sponsor scaled back after 2014, reportedly due to a financial situation. With Michael Andretti unable to confirm there was enough money to support Hinchcliffe to continue into 2015, he didn’t want to keep the Canadian from exploring his options. “Hinch” went to Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and Andretti Autosport scaled back from four to three full-time entries for the 2015 season.
As it sits now, Hunter-Reay, Marco Andretti and Carlos Munoz are the three confirmed drivers for 2016, with their liveries to be revealed at a later date. The three of them test at Sebring on Wednesday for a Honda manufacturer test day.
