Eldora Truck race to be called the Aspen Dental Eldora Dirt Derby

The Camping World Truck Series race at Eldora Speedway is getting a new sponsor in Aspen Dental and a new title because Major League Baseball is a stickler for wording.

After three years of being the 1-800-CarCash Mudsummer Classic, the July 20 race on the half-mile dirt track in Rossburg, Ohio, will be called the Aspen Dental Eldora Dirt Derby.

The race, which debuted in 2013, is the only national NASCAR event held on a dirt track and has been won by Austin Dillon, Darrell Wallace Jr. and Christopher Bell.

The Derby is a 150-lap feature broken into three segments of 40, 50 and 60 laps. Five qualifying heat races set the 32-truck field.

Aspen Dental is a main sponsor on the No. 10 Chevrolet of Danica Patrick in the Sprint Cup, which is co-owned by Tony Stewart. The three-time Cup champion also owns Eldora.

“Aspen Dental has leveraged its partnership with Stewart-Haas Racing and Danica Patrick really well and this new role with Eldora Speedway gives them another strong platform,” said Stewart in a press release. “The Aspen Dental Eldora Dirt Derby brings dirt-track fans and NASCAR fans together under one roof. It’s unique to Eldora and it allows Aspen Dental a unique opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of oral health.”

The July 20 race will be broadcast by Fox Sports 1.
