This is truly a David vs. Goliath story.

In one corner is David, otherwise known as the Little Engine That Could from Furniture Row Racing, Martin Truex Jr..

In 2015, Truex made NASCAR history by advancing the furthest ever of any driver from a single-car team in the 12-year history of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, finishing fourth in the championship battle.

In the other corner is Carl Edwards, part of the monolithic Joe Gibbs Racing. Edwards has already come close to winning a championship once, tying for the 2011 title, only to lose it to Tony Stewart in a tiebreaker.

In 2015, Edwards finished fifth in the championship battle while JGR captured its fourth Sprint Cup championship since 2000 when Kyle Busch won his first Cup crown.

While Truex bested Edwards in the overall season finish in 2015, Edwards is the unequivocal statistical leader in a head-to-head battle between the two.

Truex has three wins in 369 career Sprint Cup starts, along with 40 top-five and 117 top-10 finishes.

Edwards, on the other hand, has 25 wins in 409 career Cup starts, as well as 115 top-five and 202 top-10 finishes.

Each team will have a significant change in 2016: Truex and Furniture Row Racing switch manufacturers from Chevrolet to Toyota, with a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing.

Edwards, meanwhile, will have a new crew chief in Dave Rogers.

In your mind, who will have a better 2016 head-to-head?
