ESPN’s Shams Charania reports Colby Jones has signed a two-way contract with the Pistons.
Jones was acquired via trade by the Thunder and subsequently waived last month. The 23-year-old shooting guard averaged 8.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 15 games for the Wizards last year. While the Pistons are a playoff team with a deep rotation, Jones will serve as valuable depth in Detroit.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Thunder have waived Colby Jones after acquiring him from the Wizards for Dillon Jones and a future second-round pick.
The 34th overall pick in the 2023 draft, Jones began his NBA career with the Kings before being traded to Washington at the February deadline. He only appeared in 15 games for the Wizards, averaging 8.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 25.7 minutes. With Oklahoma City waiving Jones, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent after he clears waivers.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #1
Colby Jones accounted for 20 points (9-of-18 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), 10 rebounds and four assists in 42 minutes in Sunday’s win over the Heat.
Like fellow reserve Tristan Vukcevic, Jones experienced an increase in playing time due to the starter’s minutes being limited. Kyshawn George (5/2/1 with one three-pointer) played 15 minutes, with Jones being the beneficiary on a day when Washington only played seven. The second-year wing recorded his first career double-double, with the stat line including a career-high 10 rebounds. While George appears to have the edge regarding 2025-26 fantasy value, Jones is worth watching during Summer League play. The move from Sacramento to Washington has resulted in him receiving more opportunities to play, which he needed.
  • WAS Power Forward #21
JT Thor (knee) is out for Sunday’s game against the Heat.
Initially questionable for Sunday’s season finale, Thor will not play. Given the length of Washington’s injury report, rookie starters Alexandre Sarr and Kyshawn George may play a few minutes more than they have in recent games. Also, look for Tristan Vukcevic and Colby Jones to log heavy minutes off the bench.
  • WAS Small Forward #18
Kyshawn George amassed 13 points (4-of-10 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, two assists and two three-pointers in 25 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the 76ers.
George only returned to the Wizards’ lineup on Tuesday after missing seven games with a sprained ankle. If anything, managers in active leagues with the rookie rostered should be pleased that he played both ends of a back-to-back at this stage in the season. George will likely take on a similar workload for Washington’s final two games, but he can still provide value. Colby Jones has played rotation minutes off the bench, and he finished Wednesday’s loss with 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and two three-pointers in 32 minutes. There’s been room for him and George in the rotation, making both worth the risk in deep leagues.

Colby Jones (leg) is off the injury report for Thursday’s game against the Magic.
Jones is back after sitting out Wednesday’s win over the Kings. With Jordan Poole, Khris Middleton and Kyshawn George all out of the Wizards’ lineup, the second-year guard should be in the rotation on Thursday. Jones is not a must-stream player in this spot, but he would be worthy of consideration for managers who missed out on Bub Carrington or AJ Johnson.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #1
Colby Jones (leg) is out for Wednesday’s game against the Kings.
Colby Jones had more opportunities recently with Khris Middleton out, but now he finds himself sitting with a leg injury Wednesday. AJ Johnson appears to be in line to pick up the slack against the Kings.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #5
Jordan Poole, Bub Carrington, AJ Johnson, Justin Champagnie and Alexandre Sarr will start Saturday’s game against the Nets.
The Wizards are without Khris Middleton for Saturday’s game, as he suffered a knee injury during Thursday’s loss to the Pacers. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Johnson, who is worth a roll of the dice in deep leagues. Middleton’s absence will also free up additional opportunities for Colby Jones off the bench.
  • WAS Small Forward #32
Khris Middleton (knee) will not return to Thursday’s game against the Pacers.
Washington is already actively trying to improve their lottery odds, so there is no reason for Middleton to play through injuries. Any knee pain simply isn’t worth the long-term effects. Colby Jones started the second half in place of Middleton, but AJ Johnson should also take on a larger role to finish the game.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #1
Colby Jones had 24 points (9-of-11 FGs), four rebounds, three assists, three steals and four three-pointers against the Jazz on Wednesday.
Jones played 25 minutes in his second game with the Wizards on Monday and had just two points against the Trail Blazers. The 22-year-old shooting guard was much better this time around. He dropped 24 points on 11 shots and made all four of his three-point attempts. While Jones benefitted from Kyshawn George being out with a knee injury, it’s possible he’s earned himself more minutes with this performance. He could have value in deeper formats if that’s the case.
