Coach Avery Johnson did not say if he expected to play the 7-footer, only that he will be on the active roster.

DJ Mbenga has three more games to sit out in his six-game suspension for entering the stands to deal with a situation with Avery Johnson’s wife.
When eligible, there’s a good chance that Mbenga will be placed on the Mavs active roster, just for the six fouls he can use on Shaq alone. Josh Powell would likely be replaced on the inactive list.

DJ Mbenga has been suspended for six games for entering the stands to defend coach Avery Johnson’s wife, Cassandra, during an incident with fans in Phoenix on Tuesday.
He entered the stands peacefully, with the intention of telling Johnson to go to the locker room, but was suspended anyway. He caught somewhat of a break though, as the normal penalty for such an offense is 10 games.

DJ Mbenga and Mark Cuban entered the stands during Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals in Phoenix to come to the aid of Cassandra Johnson, the wife of Mavs’ coach Avery Johnson.
Cuban and Mbenga were joined by team security coordinator Jim Colleran in some seats overlooking the Dallas bench to check on Mrs. Johnson. A misdemeanor assault complaint was reportedly later filed by the fans against Johnson for allegedly shoving and swearing at them. Cuban downplayed the incident, calling it a “non-event” at halftime, but it’s quite possible Mbenga could be suspended and Cuban could be fined for their actions.

The Clippers are searching for another big man and worked out D.J. Mbenga, Hilton Armstrong, Solomon Jones and Dan Gadzuric on Monday.
Whoever they sign, if any of these guys, won’t be worth owning in fantasy, but could help the Clippers defensively.
  • The Clippers are looking for physical big men according to Yahoo! Sports writer Marc Spears.
Spears says to watch Antonio McDyess, Reggie Evans, Joel Pryzbilla & D.J. Mbenga, which is interesting since physical big man Craig “The Rhino” Smith was just allowed to sign in Portland. None of them will have fantasy value playing behind Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

Mbenga worked out for the Clippers on Monday but the team decided to sign Solomon Jones instead. Unable to find an offer to his liking in the league, Mbenga looks likely to ink a deal overseas.

Former Mavericks big man D.J. Mbenga was arrested in Dallas on Tuesday for public intoxication.
Mbenga was waived by the Mavs earlier this month, but apparently he told the arresting police officers that he was on the verge of signing with the Raptors. It remains to be seen whether that is true, or whether this incident will impact his chances of re-signing in the NBA.

D.J. Mbenga has agreed to a deal to with Qingdao in China.
He’ll join Tracy McGrady and he might be even less likely to return to the NBA than T-Mac. Mbenga played 6.7 minutes per game in his NBA career.
