Gordon

Gordon was signed only yesterday, likely so the team can have his G-League rights. He played in Russia last season.

No details were announced, but it’s believed to be an Exhibit 10 deal. Gordon played in Russia last season and averaged 11.1 points and 6.7 rebounds in 20.3 minutes per contest. He’s expected to spend the majority of the season in the G-League.

Aaron’s older brother spent last season playing in Russia. He averaged 1.1 points and 6.7 rebounds for Zenit St. Petersburg. It is highly unlikely he makes the Nets final 15-man roster.

Gordon was a highly touted high school recruit before college. He was named to the Jordan Brand All-America Game, but after his relationship with Ben Howland at UCLA soured, Gordon wound up transferring to New Mexico. He has rebounding ability with solid athleticism, but he’ll need to expand his game at the offensive end. Gordon acknowledges that he never saw eye-to-eye with Howland, and he’ll also have to show that he’s healthy. Gordon has had two knee surgeries.

Gordon was hoping that an NBA team would sign him despite his double knee surgeries and offensive limitations, but he couldn’t pass up a guaranteed offer from the most dominant team in Serbia (Partizan Belgrade has won 11 consecutive national titles).

Drew, the older brother of Aaron Gordon, spent last season in France with Chalons-Reims. He doesn’t belong in the NBA, but maybe that changes with a couple more years of development overseas.

He had a cup of coffee with the 76ers last season and was in Las Vegas for Summer League. Gordon is not close to the talent of his brother, Aaron, and he may have to play overseas for a few years.

The big man will join the Wizards on their trip to Philadelphia in advance of Wednesday’s game against the 76ers and is looking likely to suit up. We’ll update his status after Wednesday’s shootaround, but it looks like Drew Gooden, Kris Humphries, and Kevin Seraphin will see a dip in their playing time against the Sixers.

It’s not clear yet what the corresponding move will be, but Aaron’s older brother will be joining the Sixers.
