The Cavaliers have waived Jarell Martin and Marques Bolden.
Martin and Bolden will likely head to the G-League after their release. The Cavs currently have two open roster spots.
  • NBA Center #31
John Henson (groin) and Ante Zizic (foot) will not suit up for Tuesday’s exhibition game against the Celtics.
Tristan Thompson (rest) is also unavailable for this one, and Kevin Love will be a minutes limit, so Jarell Martin will get the start at the five-spot and get all the run he can handle. Henson has yet to make his preseason debut and is not on the radar in fantasy hoops.
  • Power Forward #24
The Cavaliers signed F Jarell Martin to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal.
After some time with the Grizzlies, Martin was able to get minutes with the Magic last year, but he never really was able to get it going due to Jonathan Isaac and Aaron Gordon staying healthy for most of the season. The Cavs could use an additional bench big man, so perhaps Martin can crack the roster with a strong camp.
  • ORL Forward #1
Steve Clifford said that Jonathan Isaac is still going through the league-mandated concussion protocol testing.
Clifford didn’t reveal where Isaac was in the process, but he does have another two days to rest up ahead of Saturday’s Game 1 matchup with the Raptors. We should get more than a few updates leading up to Saturday’s tip, but if he’s unable to get out there, Jarell Martin or Terrence Ross would likely move into the starting lineup. Stay tuned.
  • Power Forward #24
Jarrell Martin scored a season-high 12 points with two rebounds, two assists and a career-high four 3-pointers against the Bucks on Saturday.
Jonathan Isaac got into some foul trouble and Martin came through on the offensive end. Aaron Gordon (back) had a back problem earlier this season and the Magic aren’t playing well, so it’s possible he misses more time. Martin would be worth a look in deep leagues while AG is on the shelf.
  • Power Forward #24
Jarell Martin scored a season-high 10 points in 18 minutes on Wednesday, hitting 4-of-6 shots with two 3-pointers and three rebounds.
Martin moved up in the rotation due to Aaron Gordon’s absence, but AG is just day-to-day with a tight back. Leave him on the wire.
  • DEN Forward #32
Aaron Gordon (back) is questionable to play Wednesday vs. Portland.
Gordon was forced out of Monday’s game during the third quarter due to lower back tightness, but we’ll have a better idea on his status for tomorrow’s game following shootaround. If he is forced to the sidelines, that would open up some more opportunity for guys like Jonathan Isaac, Evan Fournier, Khem Birch and Jarell Martin. Stay tuned.
  • Power Forward #24
Jarell Martin came off the bench for two points, two rebounds and one assist in 15 minutes vs. the Wizards on Monday.
This line sums up his fantasy value when Aaron Gordon is healthy. Jonathan Isaac (ankle) could return any day now and that will push Martin out of the rotation.
  • DEN Forward #32
Aaron Gordon (left ankle sprain) will return to the starting lineup for Monday’s game against the Wizards, sending Jarell Martin back to the second unit.
Gordon only missed one-game with the ankle issue, so he should be back with his usual minutes tonight, which could result in Martin falling out of the rotation entirely. The Wizards are one of the worst teams in the league at defending the power forward position, so Gordon is an option in DFS tonight.
  • Power Forward #24
Jarell Martin will return to the bench for Monday’s game against the Wizards.
Aaron Gordon (ankle) is back in the starting five following a one-game absence, so Martin will see his minutes reduced drastically, and can’t be considered a viable target in any setting.
