The Knicks will bring in center Mengke Bateer to compete for a roster spot.
If he makes the Knicks, it will be seven teams in four years for Bateer. Also being invited to training camp is Andre Barrett, a 5-10 point guard from Seton Hall.
  • Raptors signed center Mengke Bateer, who had been with the Spurs.
Mengke, who played in just 12 games last season, will have a spot on the Raptors, but he might spend more time on the injured list than the active roster. • Knicks waived center Mengke Bateer and guard Andre Barrett.
The Knicks are down to 16 players. Tracy Murray will likely be cut later on, and the Knicks still could make a move with Shandon Anderson.
  • Spurs activated center Mengke Bateer from the injured list.
  • Spurs placed center Mengke Bateer on the injured list with left knee tendinitis.

Bateer takes over David Robinson’s roster spot. He’ll probably be put back on the injured list once Robinson is healthy.
  • Magic waived center Mengke Bateer.
Bateer hadn’t played for Orlando since being acquired from Toronto last week.
