Shakur had previously signed with Pau-Orthez in the French league, but he’s changed clubs and will continue his career overseas.

Shakur will continue his career in Europe after spending the 2011-12 season abroad.

The 29-year-old PG signed a 10-day deal earlier in the day and provides some insurance for any games Russell Westbrook sits out as a precaution. He has no upside while playing fleeting minutes off the Thunder bench.

Greene spent his first two seasons playing in a limited role for Boston and Indiana after being drafted 53rd overall by the Celtics in 2005. The contract will be partially guaranteed, so he’ll still need to win the backup point guard job during training camp in October. His main competition appears to be Mustafa Shakur, an undrafted rookie from Arizona.

He played point guard at Arizona and will play in the summer league for the Kings in Las Vegas.

The move was made so that the Kings can hopefully bring in Beno Udrih, who was recently traded to the Timberwolves and then released. Udrih could never win the favor of Gregg Popovich in San Antonio, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t be a decent fill-in for the Kings while Mike Bibby is out.

Shakur had been playing in the D-League, for the Tulsa 66ers. He’ll be lucky to pick up minutes in garbage time.

Basically, Shakur is an NBA prospect but Oklahoma City can’t really use him right now. Instead of outright releasing him, they’ll pay him a higher salary to develop his game.

Shakur didn’t get on the court during his 10-day contract. He’s headed back to the Tulsa 66ers of the D-League.

Shakur has yet to appear in a game for the Thunder this season, and the 25-year-old remains irrelevant in even the deepest of fantasy leagues.
