Brian Scalabrine to the Bulls? It could happen.

We last saw Brian Scalabrine cheering on the Celtics from the bench. This season he could be doing it for the Chicago Bulls.

Scalabrine and the Bulls have talked this summer and he still could land a spot, according to Sam Smith writing at Bulls.com.

And there actually is some logic here. The Bulls have one roster spot left, and they want to fill it with a shooter who could stretch the floor. Scalabrine is a career 35 percent from three.

Secondly, as Smith points out, it’s common for teams with new coaches to bring in a player from his last team to help with teaching and understanding his system. New Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau brings his defensive system from Boston, where Scalabrine has gotten to watch it from great seats on the bench the last few years.

It would probably make more sense for the Bulls to get someone young they think they could develop for that spot on the roster, but Scalabrine could be the guy. And it wouldn’t be the worst idea ever.
