D’Antoni says Steve Blake could return Tuesday

Point guard play has always been a source of consternation for Lakers fans, but the issues there were supposed to be all taken care of with the offseason acquisition of Steve Nash.

Nash has missed the last 10 games with a non-displaced leg fracture, however, and while the majority of his time missed due to the injury appears to be behind him, there’s no exact date slated for his return.

The Lakers backup point guard, Steve Blake, has also missed time with an injury. An abdominal strain has kept him sidelined for the last five games, but he might be back as soon as Tuesday when L.A. hosts the Pacers, reports Mark Medina of the Los Angeles daily News.

Mike D’Antoni has had nothing but positive things to say about Blake since joining the Lakers, so we’ll see if he can get a more consistent performance from him than we’ve seen over the past couple of seasons.

Blake averaged 5.2 points and 3.3 assists in 53 games for the Lakers last season, while shooting just 33.5 percent from three-point distance.
