Cleveland Cavaliers guard JR Smith has been out due to an injury to his thumb. He will not return to the floor until sometime in spring, but Smith did jump on to social media on Saturday to share some difficult news about his family.
Smith and his wife, Jewel Harris, shared their story via Uninterrupted, LeBron James’ video-sharing site.

Smith and his wife were expecting a baby girl, Dakota, sometime in June. Unfortunately for JR and Jewel, Dakota came five months early, apparently weighing just one pound.
Here’s hoping Dakota gets all the neonatal care she needs and that Smith and his family are doing OK under extremely trying circumstances.
