We told you earlier today that the Sixers had started early with the search to replace current front office decision maker Rod Thorn (he plans to step into a part time position after his contract is up next summer). Interviews have already started.
And there is a front-runner, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports on twitter.
You would think the voice of Collins would carry weight with the new ownership group.
A former Duke and NBA player, Ferry was the general manager in Cleveland when LeBron James was there and while that team reached the finals he struggled to build a real contending team around LeBron. There were hits and misses, and he became under increasing pressure to make a big hit move to keep LeBron happy, something that he was unable to do.
The question is how much do you blame Ferry for that — he comes out of the Spurs before that — and how much do you blame the culture at the Cavaliers under owner Dan Gilbert?
Because they have time, don’t expect a quick decision in Philly.
