The Heat are fighting for position in the crowded Eastern Conference playoff race, and they’ve just lost a major piece of their backcourt depth for the next while. Second-year point guard Tyler Johnson, who had broken out as a solid backup shooting 38.6 percent from three-point range, needs surgery on his left shoulder.
The Heat announced in a press release that Johnson will undergo rotator cuff surgery:
Yahoo’s Shams Charania reports that Johnson will miss at least two months:
Miami's Tyler Johnson will undergo surgery on his left shoulder this week and likely out two-plus months, league sources tell The Vertical.

This is a huge blow for the Heat, who are down to two healthy point guards in Goran Dragic and Beno Udrih, both of whom have had their own injury concerns. It will be interesting to see whether this affects what the Heat do at the trade deadline, because they need bodies.
