Jon Brockman was down in Houston early, doing what a lot of NBA players are now doing a couple weeks away from the start of training camp — working out at the team facilities, playing pick-up games with teammates.

Brockman was working out Monday using elastic resistance bands — something commonly used by professional athletes and seen at your local gym — when one end slipped off his foot, snapped up and hit him in the eye. The injury was severe enough it forced him to go to the hospital to get treatment, reports the Associated Press. He spent a few days in the hospital but was released Thursday.

The Rockets have not set a timetable for his return to the court. There are no other details on the injury at this time.

Brockman — one of the better players ever out of the university of Washington — played for the Bucks last season but was thrown in and traded to Houston as part of the Samuel Dalembert deal.
