Shaun Livingston: 3-1 drum at LeBron James’ Halloween party will motivate Warriors

2016 NBA Finals - Game Six

CLEVELAND, OH - JUNE 16: LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers handles the ball against Shaun Livingston #34 of the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals at Quicken Loans Arena on June 16, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. Klay Thompson didn’t like the cookies at LeBron James’ Halloween party.

But what about the “3-1 Lead” drum?

Warriors guard Shaun Livingston compared it to Stephen Curry saying he hoped the Cavaliers’ visiting locker room still smelled like champagne.

Livingston, via Chris Haynes of ESPN:

“I don’t think they like that Steph [Curry] said that,” Warriors guard Shaun Livingston told ESPN. "... Guys see it and everybody feels their own way about it, but it just fuels everybody for the next time we play them.”

Haynes also reports that the body language of Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson suggested a visceral response to the drum, though the players’ quotes are bland.

Also keep in mind, LeBron wasn’t necessarily responsible for the decorations or snacks at his party. He might have delighted in the digs at Golden State. He might not have. But those seem like the type of things he’d delegate.

Not that the Warriors have to accept that.

If they wanted people to stop making 3-1 jokes, they must win. If rallying against LeBron’s drum helps them win, good for them.

I have a hunch, if it weren’t this, they’d find another source of indignation.
