Rasheed Wallace’s reported comeback to the NBA remains in limbo. He worked out for the Heat, that’s all we know about it.
The question isn’t if the Heat could use some help along the front line — they could, especially a “stretch five” who can shoot from three — the question is could ‘Sheed still provide that help? We last saw him in Game 7 of the 2010 finals for Boston, after a season where he battled injury, and he’s been out of the game for a year. Does he still have it?
Jerry Stackhouse, who played with Wallace at North Carolina, worked out and played in a summer league against Wallace this past summer and told Chris Tomasson at Fox Sports Florida that ‘Sheed can still bring it.
My guess is that ‘Sheed is a fallback for the Heat (and he may change his mind as well). The Lakers apparently took a look at him but no deal was done either. We’ll keep watching, because the NBA is just more interesting with ‘Sheed in it.
