Steven Adams is delightfully different.
The latest example? The Thunder center calling his hip injury “Australopithecus afarensis.”
Fred Katz of The Norman Transcript:
I did some work on this:

Australopithecus afarensis is an extinct primate, not a hip
HOWEVER, it appears the australopithecus afarensis is theorized to be one of the first primates to be able to walk on two legs, because of its evolved hip joints.
Steven Adams BaZinged us.
Steven Adams refused to describe his hip contusion in any other way than using the Latin term: “Australopithecus afarensis” pic.twitter.com/CjaRf6pQNw

This job is so weird. I spent ample time researching the world's highest-flying birds (the whooper swan is really cool, guys) when they had the team plane incident earlier this year. Now I'm Googling the evolution of hip joints so I can ask good questions to Steven Adams tomorrow

I hope Adams is prepared for Katz’s hard-hitting follow-up questions.
