Lamar Odom was traded to Clippers on Friday in a four-team deal including the Mavs, Jazz, and Rockets.
Mo Williams got sent to the Jazz and the Jazz sent the Mavs a trade exception for its quest to land Deron Williams. The Rockets obtained 2012 No. 53 pick Furkan Aldemir, the Jazz received draft rights to 2008 No. 52 pick Shan Foster, and the Mavs received draft rights for 2008 No. 53 pick Tadija Dragicevic. As for the Clippers, they’re trading one headache for another, as Williams had worn out his welcome in L.A. and Odom basically took the year off in Dallas. It’s certainly conceivable that Odom tanked his season and has more in the tank for the Clippers, but playing next to Caron Butler, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan his upside doesn’t match the risk.

Draft rights for 2008 No. 51 pick Shan Foster were traded to the Jazz on Friday as a part of the Mo Williams deal.
Foster never caught on after being selected by the Mavs and is a longshot to make the Jazz roster.
  • UTA Shooting Guard
Mavericks second-round draft pick Shan Foster has signed a one-year deal to play in Europe, according to team president Donnie Nelson.
“This also gives the Mavs roster flexibility, which may prove valuable in the current free-agent market,” Nelson wrote in an email. Foster wasn’t going to get much playing time in Dallas anyway, so hopefully he’ll develop his skills and be ready to contribute next year.
  • UTA Shooting Guard
The Mavericks drafted Vanderbilt guard Shan Foster with the 51st pick in the draft.
Foster is a great shooter...and little else. His ability to translate his game to the NBA is questionable, so don’t expect him to make much fantasy noise next season.
