With the No. 54 pick in the draft, the Sixers selected Tornike Shengelia from Georgia, but he was immediately sent to the Nets.
New Jersey bought the pick, landing a SF with good size (6'9") and a pretty well-rounded offensive game. He’s 21 years old and probably needs a few years of seasoning before he’ll be ready to jump to the NBA.
  • Tornike Shengelia will sign a two-year deal with the Nets.
Shengelia, who can play both forward positions, was originally pegged as a player the Nets would stash overseas. In an amazing story of perseverance, he begged his way onto the Nets Summer League team to prove he was ready to come over to play in the NBA now, and took advantage of the opportunity. He was one of the most impressive performers in Orlando, averaging 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and shooting 53 percent from the field in five games. It’s a nice story, but Shengelia won’t have an impact in fantasy leagues next season.
  • Nets signed F Tornike Shengelia to a two-year contract.
The second-round pick was originally thought to spend the upcoming year overseas, but the Nets have rewarded his play in summer league with a two-year deal. He’s an extreme long shot to come away with fantasy relevance this season.
  • Tornike Shengelia (thumb) will not play Wednesday against the Celitcs.
Avery Johnson announced that fellow import Mirza Teletovic will also be inactive Wednesday. Neither is fantasy relevant.
  • Tornike Shengelia is currently dealing with a sprained thumb.
Most probably didn’t even notice since Toko has been a regular inactive.
  • Point Guard #10
Tyshawn Taylor and Tornike Shengelia will likely be sent to the D-League after the Nets return from their three-game road trip.
Both rookies need consistent playing time to develop, so a trip to the D-League should do good things for both players.
  • Tornike Shengelia will not play on Friday due to flu-like symptoms.
This has no impact on your fantasy league as Shengelia was only seeing minimal minutes in the rotation of late.
  • Point Guard #10
Nets recall G Tyshawn Taylor and F Tornike Shengelia from the D-League.
Both players were just assigned to the D-League less than a week ago.
  • Tornike Shengelia, who was just recalled from the D-League, is out indefinitely with a concussion.
Shengelia was likely recalled so he can be treated by the Nets medical staff.
  • The Nets have recalled Tornike Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor from the D-League.
Both players have been inactive for most of the season. It’s likely they’ll be back with the Springfield Armor again this season.
