Walker Russell Jr. scored 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting with two rebounds and an assist in 12 minutes of action Wednesday.
Russell Jr. had scored just seven points all month coming into tonight, so needless to say, don’t pay much attention to tonight’s effort.

The Pistons will call up PG Walker Russell Jr. from the D-League according to a report released Thursday.
This is a sign that Will Bynum’s foot injury isn’t doing so well, and this should provide a small bit of comfort to owners of Rodney Stuckey, Brandon Knight, and Ben Gordon. Russell is known for having good basketball smarts and pick-and-roll execution, but his lack of size and perimeter skills have held him back.

Walker Russell Jr. made his NBA debut on Friday, scoring three points on 1-of-2 shooting with one rebound, two assists, one steal, and three turnovers in 20 minutes.
Russell has plenty of court vision but the rest is a question mark, and it’s doubtful he has any fantasy value when the Pistons are at relatively full strength.
  • DET Shooting Guard #2
The Pistons’ five primary guards -- Rodney Stuckey, Brandon Knight, Ben Gordon, Will Bynum and Walker Russell Jr. -- combined to shoot just 6-of-36 from the field on Sunday.
As a result, Detroit got blown out at home by the lowly Wizards. Joe Dumars put together a small-market championship team in 2004, no mean feat, but these days it’s difficult to tell what he’s thinking -- the Pistons should be full-on rebuilding around Greg Monroe and Knight, but the re-signing of Rodney Stuckey and Tayshaun Prince has seemingly locked the franchise into two more years of financially-constrained mediocrity.

Rookie Walker Russell Jr. had a career-high 12 points and six rebounds in Wednesday’s loss to the Nets.
Unless you’re in a league with 20 teams or more, Walker’s not worth a look, and even then it’s a stretch.

Thunder sign G Walker Russell to a non-guaranteed contract.
He’ll get a training camp invite after finishing last season with the Pistons, but he’s not expected to make the final roster.
  • OKC Point Guard
Thunder waived G Walker Russell Jr.
The move brings the training camp roster down to 18, and the training camp invite was never expected to make the roster with both Eric Maynor and Reggie Jackson healthy.

The New York Knicks waived guards Jared Jordan, Demetris Nichols and Walker Russell, reducing their roster to the regular-season limit of 15 on Thursday.
Jordan and Nichols both had a chance to make the team, but Nate Robinson seems to have turned his game around, winning the MVP in the summer league and putting up nice numbers in the preseason. Fred Jones was another candidate to be cut, but Isiah Thomas is attached to him after drafting him for the Pacers several years ago.
