Neil Rackers hit field goals of 51 and 52 yards on Sunday.
He also had a 58-yarder blocked. Rackers is a strong consideration for leagues that count yardage. He was on fire for most of the preseason, hitting a 57-yarder in Arizona’s final contest.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #1
Neil Rackers tied an NFL record with three 50-yard field goals in week seven.
In yardage leagues, Rackers has possibly been the top fantasy kicker this season. Most of his long kicks have come at home. He’s worth grabbing in most leagues.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #1
The Redskins hosted free agent K Neil Rackers on Monday.
Rackers converted 32-of-38 field goals with the Texans in 2011, but the sides have yet to come to an agreement. Washington’s incumbent kicker, Graham Gano, is still under contract, but hit only 75-percent of his field goals a season ago.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #1
Redskins signed K Neil Rackers to a one-year contract.
The Texans showed little interest in bringing back Rackers after he finished near the bottom of the league in kickoff distance. Redskins incumbent Graham Gano has a stronger leg, but Rackers is more consistent on field goals. It’s conceivable that the team will end up carrying both kickers to start the season. The Texans will likely address the position in the draft.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #1
Free agent K Neil Rackers said during his exit interview Monday that he wants to re-sign with the Texans.
Reliant Stadium’s retractable roof and Houston’s potent offense make for a comfy kicking combination. “I want to be a Texan,” said Rackers. “Great organization, great teammates, obviously great ball club. ... If the Texans want me and I’m back here, I would love that.” Rackers, who turns 36 before next season, nailed 32-of-38 field-goal tries during the 2011 campaign.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #1
Neil Rackers went 4-for-4 in field goals tonight, hitting kicks of 45, 47, 57 and 47 yards.
Because he’s on the Cardinals, Rackers is not an exciting fantasy pick. But that’s as impressive a night a kicker can have.
  • FA Center #55
The Texans “won’t break the bank” to keep free agents C Chris Myers, RG Mike Brisiel, TE Joel Dreessen, and K Neil Rackers, according to the Houston Chronicle.
That doesn’t mean the Texans won’t make every effort to retain the foursome, but they’re already up against the salary cap with Mario Williams and Arian Foster as the top priorities. Myers was arguably the top center in the NFL in 2011, though he’s a purely a fit for zone-blocking teams.
  • NYG Kicker #9
The Redskins’ kicker battle between Graham Gano and Neil Rackers is even right now, according to special teams coach Danny Smith.
Gano officially missed 10 field goals last season, but the Redskins have attributed at least five of them to protection problems. He’s getting a fair shake to try to hold off the more consistent and experienced Rackers.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #1
Coach Mike Shanahan doesn’t expect his kicking competition to be decided until after the preseason schedule is finished.
Incumbent Graham Gano and challenger Neil Rackers have been even through spring practices. While Gano has the stronger leg for kickoffs and long field goals, Rackers has been the more consistent of the two.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #1
    Redskins released K Neil Rackers.
A tight battle between Rackers and incumbent Graham Gano is over a week earlier than expected. Perhaps the Redskins want to bring in another challenger after Rackers went just 1-for-2 on field goals in preseason games and came up shorter on kickoffs. The Ravens released Billy Cundiff on Sunday.
