Dustin Johnson (2-2-0)

Grade C
Skinny: More was expected from the highest-ranked player in the event. He should’ve played in all five matches. Barely beat Chris Wood in singles.

Jordan Spieth (2-2-1)

Grade C+
Skinny: Played great in spots, not great in others. Easy to have good record while paired with Patrick Reed. Should’ve given Henrik Stenson better fight in singles.

Phil Mickelson (2-1-1)

Grade A-
Skinny: Had so much pressure to perform and met expectations just about every time. Ten birdies in singles against Sergio Garcia will live in Ryder Cup lore.

Patrick Reed (3-1-1)

Grade A
Skinny: The heart and soul for the Americans was a man possessed all week. Carried Spieth often and first eight holes in singles was pure magic.

Jimmy Walker (1-2-0)

Grade C
Skinny: Not sure much was expected of him, hasn’t played well since PGA victory. Won first match easily, then lost the last two.

Brooks Koepka (3-1-0)

Grade A
Skinny: Spectacular for a rookie, especially in Friday fourballs where he and Brandt Snedeker were only Americans to win. Has a big Ryder Cup future.

Brandt Snedeker (3-0-0)

Grade A
Skinny: Ultimate team player. Had every right to be miffed that he was benched Saturday but used that to cheerlead and rest for a great singles win.

Zach Johnson (2-1-0)

Grade B
Skinny: Surprised he played only three matches. Even so, he was solid when he needed to be. Won a meaningless singles match against Matthew Fitzpatrick.

Ryan Moore (2-1-0)

US_Ryan_Moore.jpg

Grade B+
Skinny: A week ago didn’t know he was on the Ryder Cup team. Seven days later he clinched the Ryder Cup for the U.S. by beating Lee Westwood.

Rickie Fowler (2-1-0)

US_Rickie_Fowler.jpg

Grade B
Skinny: He was Phil’s little buddy for two days and played well in spots. Singles win against a weary Justin Rose was big but he never totally found his groove.

Matt Kuchar (2-2-0)

US_Matt_Kuchar.jpg

Grade B-
Skinny: Bright spot was Saturday afternoon in fourballs with Mickelson. Should not have lost singles match to Martin Kaymer, who played horribly all week.

J.B. Holmes (1-2-0)

US_JB_Holmes.jpg

Grade C+
Skinny: Only played well in one match and was overpowered in singles against Thomas Pieters. But he’s now played on two winning Ryder Cup teams.

Davis Love III (Captain)

Grade A
Skinny: Pulled all the right strings on a team that was truly much better than its opponent. After four long years, gets revenge for Medinah meltdown.
