Colts placed LB A.J. Edds (ACL tear) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Edds tore his right ACL as a fourth-round rookie in 2010; this injury is to his left knee. Claimed off waivers from the Patriots last September, Edds appeared in 11 games as a special teamer last season.
  • Colts G/T Ben Ijalana and LB A.J. Edds are both out for the year with ACL tears.
They will be placed on injured reserve, ending their seasons. Coach Chuck Pagano revealed that Ijalana had just finished rehabbing from two hip surgeries as well as last October’s ACL surgery to the same knee. The No. 49 pick in the 2011 draft, Ijalana was viewed as a promising swing-tackle prospect before the back-to-back ACL tears. His career is now in jeopardy. Edds played 12 games on special teams last year after being signed off the Patriots’ practice squad.

Colts did not tender offers to restricted free agents OG Seth Olsen or LB A.J. Edds.
Olsen battled a knee injury last season and played in just five games, starting four. Edds, a special teams player, missed the entire season with a torn ACL. Both players could be re-signed on the cheap at a later date.
