    Falcons released EDGE Ade Ogundeji.
Ogundeji was a fifth-round pick of the Falcons back in 2021. As a rookie, he totaled 33 tackles, five TFLs, and one sack and posted 42 tackles, three TFLs, and two sacks in 2022. An ankle injury suffered last August ended his 2023 campaign before it ever began. Ogundeji has appeared in 32 games and made 27 career starts and could catch on with another team if he’s fully recovered from his injury.
  • Falcons placed LB Adetokunbo Ogundeji on injured reserve.
An ankle injury sustained in Saturday’s practice sends the third-year linebacker to injured reserve, ending his season. Ogundeji started 27 games for the Falcons over the first two years of his professional career, marking a substantial blow to defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen’s depth off the edge.
  • Falcons selected Notre Dame DE Adetokunbo Ogundeji with the No. 182 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Ogundeji (6'5/260) was a slow starter, working as a rotational member of the Notre Dame defensive line before breaking out with 6.5 sacks and a 15 percent pass rush win rate in 2020. His size and length are enticing, but Ogundeji tends to get upright when rushing the passer. Has physical tools but is still very raw as a prospect and tends to get run out of his rush lane. The ND lineman ran a strong 4.71 second 40-yard dash in addition to posting a strong 36.5” vertical and 10” broad jump. The 6-foot-5 260 pound rocked up defensive end well outperformed the average marks for a player his size and acquitted himself quite well in the testing phase of his evaluation process. Ogundeji won seven-of-12 Senior Bowl Practice 1-on-1 matchups from the DT and DE positions, earning a +3.5 grade from PFF for his performance. He’ll be part of the Falcons’ defensive line rotation in Year 1.
