Former Giants draft pick and Redskins practice squad QB Andre Woodson is now pursuing a coaching career.

Once considered a top prospect by draftniks, Woodson plummeted to the 198th pick in 2008 after the Senior Bowl exposed him as a deliberate passer with a big windup and slow release. Woodson spent 2011 working with quarterbacks as a student assistant at his alma mater, Kentucky. His playing days are over.

Kentucky QB Andre Woodson will not run the 40-yard dash at the Combine.

Woodson recently tweaked his hamstring. The big armed senior seems to be falling down the draft board, and sitting out drills won’t help.

    Giants waived QB Andre Woodson.

No surprise here as the former Kentucky standout was a big disappointment at camp. He’s unlikely to garner much interest around the league.

Redskins signed QB Andre Woodson to their practice squad.

They preferred Woodson’s big arm and upside to Chase Daniels’. It’s not the greatest fit. Woodson is going from the Giants’ vertical offense to Jim Zorn’s precision-based short passing attack. Don’t bet on the former All American pushing Todd Collins to be Jason Campbell’s primary backup anytime soon.

Giants signed sixth-round QB Andre Woodson to a multi-year contract.

Woodson was the SEC’s second best QB (behind Tim Tebow) as a senior, but fell in the draft due to concerns about his elongated throwing motion. His odds of making the club were hurt by a quadriceps strain in OTAs, but Jared Lorenzen’s release should keep him around through at least late August.

Anthony Wright left the Giants’ second preseason game with a back injury after completing 4-of-8 passes for 34 yards and a pick.

Wright was knocked out of the game on a sack in the last minute of the second quarter. The extent of his injury is unknown. David Carr entered and went 7-of-14 for 53 yards. Andre Woodson tried one pass. It fell incomplete.

    Giants released QB Jared Lorenzen.

A J Load off their roster. Lorenzen was a four-year pet project for Tom Coughlin, but he lost favor in 2007 after an ugly preseason and an ankle injury. Anthony Wright is likely to beat David Carr for the backup spot. Rookie Andre Woodson will either be the third quarterback or get placed on the practice squad.

Giants signed QB Andre Woodson and WR Marcus Monk to their practice squad.

Woodson will be the third QB in theory behind Eli Manning and David Carr. It’s not a surprise Woodson drew little interest after a poor training camp.

    Giants waived QB Andre Woodson.

Falling to the sixth round had to shake Woodson’s confidence and he apparently never got it back, throwing pick after pick in training camp practices. The Giants are showing a lot of faith in David Carr as the only QB on their roster after Eli Manning. Woodson could go on the practice squad.

Redskins released QB Andre Woodson from their practice squad.

He was cut in favor of journeyman FB Jonathan Evans, which doesn’t say much for Woodson’s future. Big armed with a long delivery, Woodson never would’ve been a good fit for the Redskins’ West Coast offense anyhow.
