Clemson sophomore K B.T. Potter remains the team’s kickoff specialist, but he has lost the placekicking job to Steven Sawicki heading into Saturday’s game at Louisville.
Potter (5'10/180) has missed some short field goals in recent games, most recently missing a 24-yarder during the Tigers’ blowout win over Florida State. While there was some confusion on the play, with HC Dabo Swinney originally deciding to go for the first down before changing his mind, the sophomore kicker missing from 24 yards out was the last straw. Potter is 5-of-9 on field goals this season, with a long of 51 yards, and he’s made all 27 of his extra point attempts. Sawicki, a transfer from North Carolina A&T, made a 26-yard field goal during the third quarter of Saturday’s win over Florida State.
