ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes the chances of Ravens QB Lamar Jackson “playing out 2026 without an extension could grow by the day.”

The veteran quarterback is under contract through 2027, but carries an $84.3 million salary cap hit next year. The front office obviously wants to rework the deal. Jackson wants a lucrative extension and “has massive leverage and appears ready to use it.” He also has a no-franchise-tag provision and a no-trade clause. If Jackson turns in another “banner season,” Fowler believes “he has full control” of where he plays next season. For now, he is a top-tier QB1.

Ravens DT Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) resumed participating in team drills on Thursday.

Ravens coach Jesse Minter labeled Madubuike as “day-to-day” heading into Week 1. This does not necessarily mean Madubuike will take the field against the Colts next week, but it is a step in the right direction. Madubuike racked up 10 quarterback pressures, two sacks and three tackles in just two games played last year. Getting him back, even in a limited capacity, is a big deal.

Zay Flowers returned to practice Thursday.

Flowers suffered a quad bruise early in training camp but eventually returned to practice. He has been out of practice more recently with an undisclosed lower-body issue. His injuries have seemed relatively minor, and an appearance at practice today all but confirms that. Barring a setback, Flowers should be good to go as a high-end WR2 for Baltimore’s Week 1 opener versus the Colts.

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said, “the fact that we didn’t put [DT Nnamdi Madubuike] on IR means that we would expect him to be able to contribute sooner than that.”

DeCosta added, “I’m probably more bullish on that right now than I even have been.” Madubuike’s 2025 season was cut short due to a neck injury and the 28-year-old has been working his way back since. He has been participating in individual drills but was not seen participating in team drills by the media in training camp. The Ravens chose to keep Madubuike off injured reserve, indicating they expect him to return less than four games into the regular season. The former third-round pick is a two-time Pro-Bowler and a key piece of the Ravens’ defensive line when healthy.

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said he is “optimistic” about reaching a contract extension with Lamar Jackson.

DeCosta also said he wants to get a deal done as soon as possible. Jackson currently has two seasons left on his five-year, $260 million contract. His cap hit for the 2026 season is a comfortable $34.4 million. That number balloons to $84.3 million next year. A new deal would help the Ravens spread Jackson’s cap hit over multiple seasons. Jackson is no longer one of the 10 highest-paid quarterbacks by average annual value, so he should also want to get a new deal on the books. It makes sense for both sides to come to an agreement sooner rather than later, ideally before the start of the season.

Ravens signed Chuma Edoga, formerly of the Jaguars.

Edoga appeared in 14 games for the Jags last year and made two starts. He has 25 career starts across both tackle spots and left guard. Edoga will be a versatile depth option for the Ravens.
Nick Vannett

Ravens signed TE Nick Vannett to their practice squad.

Vannett, 33, is a journeyman veteran tight end best known for his blocking skills. Starting his career with the Seahawks, he has jumped around the league with the Steelers, Broncos, Saints, Giants, Chargers, Titans, Vikings, and Rams. He signed with the Seahawks in the offseason but was let go in final cuts. The Ravens add Vannett as blocking tight end depth on the practice squad.
Jake Moody

Ravens signed K Jake Moody to the team’s practice squad.

It’s an interesting move after Tyler Loop, the team’s Week 1 starter, struggled in training camp and during the preseason. The journeyman Moody was most recently cut by the Commanders and would only be activated to the 53-man roster if Loop’s struggles continue into the regular season. Last year with Washington, Moody went 10-for-11 while going 2-for-2 on distances of 50-plus yards.

Ravens WR Zay Flowers (lower body) did not practice Monday.

Flowers has been a bit banged up in the latter portions of the offseason program, missing practices for two separate issues over the previous month. Even so, the team continues to assert he will be fine for Week 1. Fantasy managers will want to track his status over the coming two weeks.
