    Dolphins released LS Blake Ferguson.
The team also waived CB Ryan Cooper Jr., DT Neil Farrell and OL Chasen Hines. Ferguson has been the team’s long snapper for five seasons and earned a three-year contract extension just before the 2023 season. He should be able to find work snapping footballs farther than the average snap elsewhere in the league.
  • MIA Center #44
Dolphins signed LS Blake Ferguson to a three-year extension.
Ferguson becomes the first of Miami’s 2020 draft picks to receive an extension. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.
  • FA Long Snapper #49
Dolphins signed sixth-round LS Blake Ferguson to a four-year contract.
Ferguson (6'3/229) was considered the best snapper of snaps that must travel a longer distance than typical snaps by those who evaluate such things. He will bring national championship experience to plays that require the ball be snapped farther back than usual.

NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein wrote that LSU LS Blake Ferguson has a great shot at following his older brother Reid Ferguson into the NFL.
Ferguson (6'3/229) won the David Binn Award in 2018, which is given annually to the best long snapper in college football. And in Zierlein’s opinion, he has the best shot of any long snapper to hear his name called during next month’s NFL Draft. “He’s the likely leader in the clubhouse as the long-snapper most likely to be drafted (and make a team long-term) this season,” Zierlein wrote. Blake’s older brother Reid has been the Bills long snapper since the 2015 season.

LSU junior LS Blake Ferguson was awarded the David Binn Award.
The David Binn Award goes to the long snapper of the year. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound snapper snapped in all 12 games this year, and as viewed as one of the better players at the position. He’ll likely get a chance to snap in several all-star events after the 2019 season.
