According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Panthers will hire Bucs’ wide receivers coach Brad Idzik as their new offensive coordinator.
Idzik is just 32 years old, so his rise to this job as been rapid; however, the move makes sense Idzik followed new Panthers’ head coach Dave Canales from the Seahawks to the Buccaneers to coach wide receivers last season, and will not follow Canales to the Panthers. Idzik has had success developing receivers in the past, helping to get a career year out of Tyler Lockett in Seattle. In his years there, Idzik’s receivers had the second-most receiving touchdowns and the seventh-highest receiving percentage. He will run the show in Carolina but it will be Canales who will be calling the plays.
