    Rams signed K Brett Maher.
Maher’s signing comes just hours after the team released Lucas Havrisik. Maher, 34, kicked in seven games for the Rams earlier this season, converting on 17-of-23 attempts while making all 12 of his extra points. His 73.9 percent field goal percent is well off his 90.6 percent mark from 2022, but Maher is a veteran kicker who has converted on nearly 80 percent of his attempts for his career. We’ll see if he’s able to solve the Rams’ kicking woes with one game to go until the postseason.
  • FA Kicker #8
    Rams released K Brett Maher.
Maher missed two of his three field goal attempts and an extra point against the Steelers in Week 7 as LA lost 24-17. On the season, Maher has made 17 of 23 field goal tries. In Week 6, he made all four of his field goals. Maher will likely land elsewhere at some point this season.
  • LA Kicker #16
Rams signed K Brett Maher, formerly of the Broncos.
Maher was released by Denver after they traded for Sean Payton alumni Wil Lutz. The Rams didn’t have a kicker on the roster before signing Maher, so the move locks in Maher as their kicker for the start of the season. Rookie kicker Tanner Brown was released by LA on Tuesday. If the Rams’ offense turns things around this year, Maher should be a solid fantasy option at the position.
  • FA Kicker #16
    Broncos released K Brett Maher.
Just minutes after the Broncos acquired Wil Lutz from the Saints, the team opted to release Maher. Maher, who joined the Broncos this offseason, converted 29-of-32 field goal attempts for the Cowboys last season and has made 81 percent of his attempts for his career. He’ll likely land with another kicker-needy team at some point in the season.
  • DEN Kicker #3
Saints traded K Wil Lutz to the Broncos.
Head coach Sean Payton acquires his former kicker in New Orleans after Brett Maher seemingly had the starting job locked up. Maher will likely be released and Lutz — who missed much of the 2021 season with a groin injury — will kick for Denver this season. He makes for a decent fantasy option in Denver, and Blake Grupe — the only other kicker on the New Orleans roster — becomes an interesting sleeper option in fantasy leagues.
  • Free agent kicker Brett Maher will visit with the Broncos on Wednesday.
Maher, who infamously shanked four extra points against Tampa Bay in last year’s wild card round, was let go by the Cowboys this offseason. In case you were wondering: Yes, he did play for the Saints in 2021.

  • FA Kicker (FG) #14
Cowboys signed K Tristan Vizcaino to the practice squad.
This move comes just days after Brett Maher missed four extra points in the Cowboys Wild Card win over the Buccaneers. The team is expected to go with Maher heading into the Divisional Round against the Eagles, but Vizcaino could be active on game day for added insurance. He spent time with both the Patriots and Cardinals this season, converting all three of his extra points while going two-for-two on his field goal attempts.

  • ESPN’s Todd Archer reports the Cowboys will stick with K Brett Maher for their Divisional Round game against the 49ers.
Maher infamously missed four extra points in the Cowboys’ Wild Card Round win over the Bucs. He is now the only player in the league’s history to miss that many layups in a single game. However, Maher was nearly automatic on PATs in the regular season, connecting on 50-of-53 tries. Instead of bringing in a new leg on short notice, the Cowboys are betting on a rebound from their typically-accurate kicker.

  • Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team would “take a look” at whether Brett Maher will start in the Divisional Round against the 49ers.
One of the league’s most reliable kickers this season, Maher came down with a horrific case of the yips Monday night against the Bucs, missing four of his five extra point attempts -- two of which were not close. Maher had not missed an extra point since Week 4 and converted 50 of his 53 regular season extra point tries, along with 29 of his 32 field goal attempts. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said the team would “forge ahead” with Maher this weekend against the Niners. Special teams coordinator John Fassel said, “Hell yeah” when asked if Maher should start in the Divisional Round. Josh Lambo and Rodrigo Blankenship are the two most prominent kicker free agents available right now.

  • Cowboys promoted K Brett Maher from the practice squad.
The move was a formality after Maher won Cowboys’ kicking duties in camp. Maher’s second stint with the storied franchise brings solid expected fantasy utility kicking for a team likely to finish the season amongst the top 10 in total offense. A top-12 finish is well within his range of outcomes, keeping Maher on the fantasy radar in all formats that still use kickers.
