Colts agreed to terms with S Cam Bynum, formerly of the Vikings, on a four-year, $60 million contract.
Bynum was arguably the most coveted safety on the market and now has a new home in Indy. The former fourth-round pick is fresh off a season in which he forced a career-high five turnovers while also breaking up 10 passes. He should provide immediate help to a Colts defense that was among the worst in the league against the pass in 2024, ranking 26th in total pass yards allowed while ranking 29th in net yards per attempt at 6.7.
  • PHI Defensive Tackle #93
ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports that the Panthers will be “seeking big-name players in free agency,” particularly on defense.
Graziano suggests the Panthers “might be one of the teams willing to spend big to lure defensive tackle Milton Williams away from the Super Bowl champion Eagles.” The Panthers will also attempt to bolster their edge rush and Graziano lists Saints defensive end Chase Young as an “intriguing option.” Adding Williams and Young to a defensive line featuring Derrick Brown and Jadeveon Clowney could help turn around Carolina’s dire 2024 defense. Safeties Jevon Holland and Camryn Bynum are also reportedly on the Panthers’ short list of preferred defenders.
  • IND Safety #24
Vikings declared CB Camryn Bynum, QB Kellen Mond, WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette, CB Harrison Hand, LB Chazz Surratt and OG Wyatt Davis inactive for Week 12 against the 49ers.
Playing weekly snaps for the Vikings’ defense, Bynum hurt his ankle in Friday’s practice. The No. 125 overall pick of the draft should be considered week to week.

  • IND Safety #24
Vikings selected Cal CB Camryn Bynum with the No. 125 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Bynum (6'0/200) brings a ton of Power Five experience with him. A four-year contributor and three-year starter, Bynum racked up 28 passes defended and six interceptions during his time at Cal. Bynum was often at his best when jammed up on the line of scrimmage and allowed to bully wide receivers right off the snap. He plays with a tough, strong mentality and has adequate footwork to keep up early in routes. However, Bynum can get a little lost in his transitions and fail to make up ground, which is evidenced by a painfully average 6.98-second three-cone drill. Getting burned down the field can be somewhat of an issue for Bynum, too. There is a reason he functions best as a press cornerback. Look for Bynum to have a career similar to Ahkello Witherspoon.

  • IND Safety #24
Cal redshirt senior DB Camryn Bynum has opted back in to play the fall football season, according to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.
As the Pac-12 returns, so are a number of players who had previously opted out. Bynum, one of the best DBs in the country and certainly among the Pac-12’s elite, has decided to come back to play this season instead of prepare for the draft. Considering Bynum (6'0/200) is already expected by many to be a Day 2 pick, coming back to play this season means he gets his chance to fight for a first-round spot. Bynum earned 26 passes defended and five interceptions in his first three years of play.

  • IND Safety #24
Cal redshirt senior CB Camryn Bynum opted out of the season and will begin prepping for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Bynum (6'0/200) wasn’t going to be playing this fall, anyway, due to the Pac-12’s decision to postpone the campaign, but he won’t be sticking around waiting for any spring season or the like. Instead, it’s onward to draft preparation. ESPN’s Todd McShay ranks Bynum as his No. 10 cornerback in the prospective spring class. A Day 1 pick figures to be a bridge too far, here, but the Cal standout should very much be in range for a selection on Day 2. This past season, Bynum logged 59 tackles with an interception and nine passes defensed. He picked off five total passes during his time with the Golden Bears.

  • IND Safety #24
Cal redshirt senior CB Camryn Bynum posted a picture on Instagram showing a brace or cast on his left leg.
Bynum (6'0/200) let the cat out of the bag on this one first, with Cal subsequently confirming that he was rehabbing from a lower-body injury. The specific nature of that injury is unknown. This issue would undoubtedly have been problematic for Bynum’s spring practice availability were spring practice actually happening, but with coronavirus wreaking havoc on sports, Bynum has some time to get right out of the spotlight. We should have an idea on his progress this summer.
  • IND Safety #24
Per Pro Football Focus, Cal redshirt junior CB Camryn Bynum allowed a 53.2 percent completion rate.
Bynum forced an incompletion on 17.7 percent of targets thrown his way and allowed a 76.1 passer rating. Pro Football Focus graded Bynum as the second-best returning PAC-12 corner with an 84.1 overall grade. He is expected to have another big season in 2019 as the team’s top cornerback.
  • IND Safety #24
Cal redshirt junior CB Camryn Bynum has the second-best Pro Football Focus grade among returning Pac-12 corners.
Bynum (6'0/180) only trails Stanford’s Paulson Adebo for the Pac-12 lead, but there’s a chance Bynum takes over in 2019. After breaking out as a freshman, Bynum earned an 84.1 PFF grade in 2018 by showing good ball skills while racking up 32 solo tackles. If Bynum matches last year’s level of play, he’s a candidate to head to the draft early.
  • IND Safety #24
Cal CB redshirt freshman Camryn Bynum recorded two interceptions in the school’s 37-3 win over Washington State.
Bynum is really emerging in just his first season on the field. He’s started every game so far and is the team leading in pass deflections. The Bears did a great job of swarming receivers and forcing Luke Falk to throw into tight coverage.
