Seahawks waived C Ben Claxton, C Nick Jones, DBs Jamar Adams and Kelin Johnson, QB Dalton Bell, DT Kevin Brown, WRs Michael Bumpus and Trent Shelton, T Kyle Williams, and DE Nu’u Tafisi.
Claxton can resume plans to go to law school. The rest can try to catch on elsewhere.
  • SEA Defensive Lineman
Seahawks signed DT Larry Tripplett and LB Wesly Mallard and claimed QB Dalton Bell off waivers from the Packers.
Signing Tripplett at this stage of free agency for probably about the vet’s minimum could prove to be a steal. He’s only 29 and has a history of getting to the passer. Mallard is a special teamer. Bell will be a camp body.
  • SEA Quarterback
Packers waived QBs Dalton Bell and Jerry Babb.
The writing was on the wall when Matt Flynn and Brian Brohm were drafted.
  • SEA Quarterback
Packers GM Ted Thompson says he feels no urgency to draft a backup for new starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Right. It’d be a shock if Green Bay entered camp with Dalton Bell and Jerry Babb battling for No. 2 duties. “We feel very good about Aaron,” Thompson said. “There are other ways to get quarterbacks as you go through the spring and the summer, so we don’t feel compelled to do anything.”
