Falcons signed fifth-round CB David Irons to a four-year contract.
Kenny’s brother has all the physical tools but is so aggressive at times that he could be penalty prone. He should be Atlanta’s fifth corner as a rookie.

Falcons waived CB David Irons with an injury settlement.
Apparently the Irons brothers are weak in the knees. Like his younger sibling Kenny (the Bengals’ former second-round pick) in Cincinnati, a slow recovery from ACL surgery ended David’s two-season stint with the Falcons.

Von Hutchins opened Falcons minicamp Monday as the team’s starting left cornerback.
This probably won’t last, but Hutchins is Atlanta’s most experienced corner. Chris Houston was at RCB and should be locked in there. David Irons and Brent Grimes will likely both get looks at left corner during the workouts.

Falcons CB David Irons underwent tests Monday after suffering a knee injury in Sunday’s overtime defeat of the Bucs.
His results won’t be available until Tuesday or Wednesday and his status might not be known until this weekend. The Falcons are very thin at cornerback heading into their Week 16 matchup with the Vikings.

Falcons placed CB David Irons (torn ACL) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Irons was more valuable to the Falcons on special teams than as a cover corner. Inactive in nine games this season, Irons will have to battle for a roster spot next year. Like his brother Kenny, Irons has dealt with all kinds of knee trouble and probably don’t have much of an NFL future.
