Raiders waived/released QB Carter Bradley, QB Nathan Peterman, RB Brittain Brown, RB Sincere McCormick, WR Tulu Griffin, WR Terrell Bynum, WR Dax Milne, TE Zach Gentry, TE John Samul Shenker, TE Cole Fotheringham, OL Ben Brown, OL Jalen McKenzie, OL Dalton Wagner, OL Andrew Coker, OL Clark Barrington, OL Will Putnam, OL Corey Luciano, EDGE Elerson Smith, EDGE David Aghoa, EDGE Ron Stone Jr., EDGE TJ Franklin, EDGE Charles Snowden, DT Marquan McCall, DT Noah Shannon, DT Matthew Butler, LB DaShaun White, LB Jackson Mitchell, LB Darien Butler, DB Sam Webb, DB Cornell Armstrong, DB Ja’Quan Sheppard, DB Rayshad Williams, DB Woo Governor, DB Jaydon Grant, and DB Phalen Sanford.
Milne joined the Raiders earlier this month after being released by the Commanders. The former seventh-round pick has caught 15 passes for 120 yards and one touchdown in his career and also has 611 return yards. He won’t garner much interest as a receiver but could be called up as a returner for a team in need at some point this season.
  • WAS Kicker #38
Commanders claimed K Riley Patterson off waivers from the Jaguars.
The team also signed wide receiver Byron Pringle. Washington released fellow receivers Dax Milne and Damiere Byrd in a pair of corresponding moves. Patterson kicked for the Browns and Lions last year, connecting on 16-of-18 field goal tries and 41-of-44 extra point attempts. He signed with the Jaguars in the offseason but was waived earlier this week. Patterson will compete with Ramiz Ahmed for the kicking job in Washington during training camp.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #12
Washington selected Brigham Young WR Dax Milne with the No. 258 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Milne (6'1/195) bet on himself as a walk-on at BYU and eventually became Zach Wilson’s favorite target, going from 21/285/2 as the team’s primary slot receiver in 2019 to breaking out for 70/1,188/8 on a career-high in snaps from out wide (78%) in 2020. Milne tore up weaker corners with speed in his final year but, having recorded an underwhelming 4.54 40 at Brigham Young’s pro day, won’t be able to at the next level. Per The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, Milne projects best in the slot similar to Hunter Renfrow.

  • CAR Wide Receiver #12
BYU junior WR Dax Milne declared for the NFL Draft.
Milne (6'1/190) had a relatively understated 2019, catching 21 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns. However this year Zach Wilson’s roommate exploded on the scene, recording seven games with 99 yards or more in 12 contests. He ends the year with 70 receptions on 91 targets for a sterling 77 percent catch rate while only dropping two catchable pass opportunities. His 1,188 receiving yards ranks fourth in the country as Milne displayed impressive body control and had a knack for reeling in deep balls thanks to advanced route running and technique. His NFL Draft slot will ultimately depend on how he performs at the NFL Scouting Combine. Milne currently projects as a mid-round selection.

  • CAR Wide Receiver #12
BYU junior WR Dax Milne caught seven passes for 70 yards in Tuesday’s 49-23 win over UCF in the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl.
BYU scored five passing touchdowns as they constantly barraged the UCF defense down the field. Despite the constant search for explosive plays, Milne never got in on that action. His biggest play was just 18 yards and he never scored. However, every aggressive, downfield attack needs a way to pick up yardage and move the chains here and there, which is where Milne came in. Milne was an excellent option as a security blanket and near the sticks. This was Milne’s sixth game of the year with at least seven receptions. Milne finishes the season with 70 catches for 1,188 yards and eight scores.

  • CAR Wide Receiver #12
BYU junior WR Dax Milne caught eight passes for 107 yards with a touchdown in a 28-14 win on Saturday over San Diego State.
Another strong effort for Milne, as he and Neil Pau’u were the top options in this passing attack with Gunner Romney unavailable. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wideout made some impressive catches in this one, and he found paydirt on a five-yard connection with start quarterback Zack Wilson in the first quarter. Milne will again see plenty of targets whenever BYU plays again; likely in a fairly high-profile bowl game.

  • CAR Wide Receiver #12
BYU junior WR Dax Milne brought in five passes for 67 yards and a score in Saturday’s 41-10 win over Western Kentucky.
Nobody in BYU’s receiving corps really stepped up in a major way. The closest to doing so, though, was Milne, who is often a favorite of Wilson’s. Of the seven games BYU has played this year, this is Milne’s fourth with at least one receiving touchdown. Expect him to be one of BYU’s leaders in the passing game again next week against the Boise State Broncos.

  • CAR Wide Receiver #12
BYU junior WR Dax Milne caught nine passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns in a 43-26 win over Houston on Friday night.
Milne (6'1/190) absolutely dominated the helpless Houston secondary as he kicked off the Brigham Young scoring barrage with a 78-yard bomb from Zach Wilson on the team’s first play from scrimmage. Fellow WR Gunner Romney strained a hamstring in the contest, so Milne was called upon to carry the receiving load. The rising junior has posted 100-yard performances in three of his last four games while catching at least seven passes in each. He currently has 550 receiving yards through five games as Zach Wilson’s top target.

  • CAR Wide Receiver #12
BYU junior WR Dax Milne caught seven passes for 140 yards and one touchdown in a 48-7 victory over Troy on Saturday.
Milne (6'1/190) caught a sharply thrown 15-yard out from Zach Wilson that he turned into a 70-yard touchdown when he strong-armed the defending Troy corner then turned down the left sideline for the TD. Milne caught 21 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns in a reserve role last season. He won a starting spot in fall camp but only caught three passes for 35 yards against Navy in the Cougars’ season opener. Milne will try to build on his career game next weekend when BYU hosts Louisiana Tech.

  • Neil Pau'u
    BYU #2
BYU OC Jeff Grimes singled out redshirt junior Neil Pau’u, junior Gunner Romney and junior Dax Milne as the team’s top wide receivers.
BYU opens its season September 7 vs. Navy, and the Cougars entered fall camp with some questions to answer on the outside. Pau’u (6'4/215), who redshirted last season after pleading guilty to a charge of impaired driving, Romney and Milne have managed to separate themselves from the competition, and they’ll be key targets for QB Zach Wilson along with highly regarded TE Matt Bushman. Pau’u caught 18 passes for 216 yards and a touchdown in 2018, appearing in 13 games. Last season Romney (6'3/195) posted a line of 31-377-2, while Milne (6'1/190) was responsible for 21 receptions, 285 receiving yards and two scores.
