Ex-Lions S Glover Quin is retiring after 10 seasons in the NFL.
Released by the Lions in February, it always seemed likely the 33-year-old would call it quits. Quin played four seasons with the Texans, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft, but he had his best years in Detroit including a seven-interception season in 2014. He made his only Pro Bowl that year. Quin retires with 740 tackles, 24 interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns.

Free agent FS Glover Quin is contemplating retirement.
Quin was released by the Lions last week, and he’s not sure if he’ll play another down in the NFL. When asked if he would entertain new offers, Quin said he’d speak with his family and will “call it a career” if they don’t meet his expectations. Despite his age, 33, Quin has enough gas in the tank to receive reasonable contract offers. He earned PFF’s No. 42 safety grade out of 89 qualifiers last season.

    Lions released FS Glover Quin.
The Lions also parted ways with WR Bruce Ellington and LB Nicholas Grigsby. Cutting Quin was a cost-saving move for Detroit as his release will free up $6.25 million in cap space while leaving behind $1.7 million in dead money. The 33-year-old had been a mainstay in Detroit’s secondary, even earning All-Pro recognition during his breakout 2014 campaign. He led the league with a career-high seven interceptions that year. Despite his age and declining productivity—he earned PFF’s No. 42 safety grade out of 89 qualifiers last year—the veteran DB shouldn’t take long to resurface.

The Houston Chronicle expects the Texans’ “top priority” to be re-signing free agent FS Glover Quin.
Quin was one of the Texans’ top playmakers in 2012, and has excelled after making the switch from corner to safety in 2011. Still only 27 years old, he should get a long-term deal.

Impending free agent FS Glover Quin is “pretty optimistic” about re-signing with the Texans.
“I would love to be here,” Quin said. “I love this organization, I love the city, I love the fans, I love this team. ... I feel like it could get done. I don’t see why it couldn’t get done.” Quin led the Texans with 85 tackles this season, adding 14 passes defensed and two interceptions. He’s started 60 of 64 games in four seasons.

The Texans are expected to prioritize re-signing FS Glover Quin this offseason.
Quin, who turned 27 earlier this month, led the Texans with 85 tackles this season and finished behind only Kareem Jackson in interceptions. He’s been a full-time starter since moving from cornerback to safety in 2011, and is a strong candidate for a long-term deal.

According to The Sideline View’s Adam Caplan, the Texans “badly” want to re-sign free agent SS Glover Quin.
We already knew keeping Quin was Houston’s top in-house priority, but it’s sounding like there’s a good chance he’s franchise tagged ahead of Monday’s deadline if a long-term deal cannot be reached. The tag for safeties is an affordable $6.916 million.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports the Texans will not wield their franchise tag before Monday’s deadline.
They’re either going to re-sign SS Glover Quin to a long-term deal or let him hit the market. The Texans never considered using the tag on free agent OLB Connor Barwin. Re-signing Quin is Houston’s priority over keeping Barwin.

ESPN AFC South blogger Paul Kuharsky believes free agent SS Glover Quin is still a candidate for the franchise tag.
The Texans have made keeping Quin a priority, but there haven’t been any updates on long-term talks. League wide, there’s yet to be a single tag applied ahead of Monday’s deadline, but that won’t remain the case much longer.

CSN Houston thinks “it’s possible” William Moore’s deal with the Falcons will be a template for free agent Glover Quin and his agent to shoot for.
Moore inked a five-year, $30 million ($14 million guaranteed) deal with the Falcons on Saturday. Moore is eight months older than Quin, but he’s also been a consistently better player. We’d expect Quin to get between $4.5 million to $5.5 million annually, as opposed to the $6 million Moore received.
