The Bucs will move Greg Spires to defensive tackle this week.
He might make the Pro Bowl at defensive end, but Spires will move inside. It won’t help his numbers.

Greg Spires believes he’ll be released in the next week.
Spires is coming off his best season. The defensive lineman can’t come to a contract agreement. Expect a lot of movement in Tampa before free agency hits.

Raiders agreed to terms with Greg Spires.
The Bucs-Raiders pipeline continues to go both ways. Spires could be of use to Oakland as a reserve, but he’s no lock to make the roster after missing six games last year. He’ll compete with DEs Jay Richardson and Kalimba Edwards.
  • LV Defensive Back
Raiders released S Jarrod Cooper, DL Greg Spires, and LB Grant Irons.
All three of these guys are just about at the end of their NFL ropes.

Kalimba Edwards opened Organized Team Activities as the Raiders’ starting right defensive end.
He’s there over Greg Spires. Jay Richardson opened at left end with Derrick Burgess absent. The Lions couldn’t get any production out of Edwards, but perhaps coordinator Rob Ryan can. It isn’t ability Edwards is lacking.

Greg Spires is having a Pro Bowl season.
The quiet defensive end has been a top 15 DE in IDP leagues this year. He has 46 tackles, two forced fumbles, and three sacks this season. He and Simeon Rice were key in stopping Kansas City during the final two drives last Sunday.

Bucs DE Greg Spires believes he has a verbal agreement to become a free agent if the team can’t restructure his contract.
Spires, who can play inside and out, was a key member of the Bucs D-line this season. They should make it a priority to keep him.

Greg Spires signed a four-year contract extension that will give the Bucs significant cap relief.
The versatile lineman’s extension is for $17.1 million over four years, with a $2.35 million signing bonus and $3 million more in roster bonuses. He’s a big part of Tampa’s defensive line, which looks excellent on paper.

The Bucs and DT Greg Spires continue to talk about restructuring his contract.
Spires thought he had a deal to be released, but the Bucs want to keep him. Look for them to find a way to make it happen.
