Free agent RBs Boston Scott and James Robinson visited the Commanders on Tuesday.
It’s the second known bit of interest for Scott since he was pronounced fully recovered from his torn meniscus before the start of the season. The Commanders are acting like a team that might need yet another back to join Chris Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols as healthy backs on the roster. Wednesday’s injury report will tell us more about Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler’s status for Week 13.
  • Running Back #38
Free agent RBs Isaiah Spiller, Joshua Kelley, Elijah Dotson and James Robinson visited the Titans on Tuesday.
Kelley is so stapled to Spiller that he couldn’t even let him work out without joining in. It’s possible that this is just checking in with the best available list, or it’s possible that this is the precursor to an IR designation for someone lower on the Tennessee depth chart. Nobody signed here would be a real threat to playing time without injuries in front of them. Spiller was released by the Chargers at last cuts this year after Kimani Vidal climbed over him for the RB3 role.
  • FA Running Back #26
    Saints released RB James Robinson.
Robinson continues to make the rounds, hoping to find his way on a 53-man roster. The former UDFA, who impressed with 1,414 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, has spent time with five different teams in less than two years and is dangerously close to running out of chances. Second-year running back Jordan Mims, who rushed 25 times for 108 yards this preseason, could be kept on the Saints’ final roster with Robinson now cut.
  • NO Running Back #23
NOF Network’s Nick Underhill reports the Saints are signing RB James Robinson.
Robinson spent time this season with the Patriots, Giants and most recently the Packers. He latches on with the Saints to provide some more depth behind Alvin Kamara.
  • GB Running Back #31
Packers placed RB Emanuel Wilson (shoulder) on injured reserve.
With Aaron Jones also likely to miss Week 12 because of an injury, the Packers signed James Robinson from their practice squad to the active roster. He will get a shot at serving as AJ Dillon’s backup until Jones returns. Dillon should dominate the backfield touches for Green Bay, though he did little with the expanded role when Jones missed time earlier in the year. In a tough matchup with the Lions, Dillon will sit on the RB2/3 border.
  • FA Running Back #23
    Packers released RB James Robinson
Robinson has been on a furious tour around the league since being traded by the Jaguars in October 2022. The veteran running back has spent time with the Jets, Patriots, Giants, and Packers since being dealt by the Jaguars, and is struggling to stick on a team for more than a few months. His release from the Packers comes less than a month after his signing, as he will now look for another opportunity elsewhere.
  • GB Running Back #23
    Packers signed RB James Robinson.
The Packers hosted Robinson for a visit a little more than two weeks ago, and have now brought him in as added depth to their running back room. Robinson is likely joining the Packers’ practice squad, and will still need to work his way onto the 53-man roster. Robinson has split time with the Jets, Patriots, and Giants since being traded from the Jaguars last October. The veteran running back has yet to prove he’s fully recovered from a torn Achilles suffered at the end of 2021, but will have a chance to do so with the Pack.

Packers hosted free agent RB James Robinson for a visit.
Since being traded to the Jets last October, Robinson has signed with the Patriots and Giants, and visited with the Colts — this is just since March. The former UDFA who totaled 1,414 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns as a rookie hasn’t been able to stick on a roster since suffering a torn Achilles at the end of the 2021 campaign. Given his age (25) and how long it can take running backs to fully bounce back from his injury, it’s possible Robinson eventually lands on a 53-man roster. Perhaps that’s with the Packers, who have looked glaringly thin behind Aaron Jones, as AJ Dillon has gotten off to a painfully slow start to his season.
  • FA Running Back #23
Colts hosted free agent RB James Robinson for a visit.
This is what teams do when they’re at odds with their star running backs. With Jonathan Taylor out for at least the first four weeks after being placed on the PUP list, and Kenyan Drake released during roster cutdowns, the Colts met with Robinson to see what he could provide in the immediate future. Since being traded to the Jets in October, Robinson has bounced around between the Patriots and Giants this offseason, and is now in search of his third team in the last five months. A torn Achilles suffered at the end of 2021 has all but derailed Robinson’s once promising career, but the 25-year-old back isn’t holding out hope of landing another job. Even if he catches on with the Colts, it could be a brief stay as Zack Moss (forearm) is expected to return in the coming weeks.
  • FA Running Back #23
    Giants released RB James Robinson.
The Giants will move forward with rookie Eric Gray and Matt Breida behind Saquon Barkley. The release could be good for Robinson, who didn’t have a path to snaps once Barkley ended his holdout. Robinson has been on four different rosters since October and will now look to resurface before Week 1.
