Elam

Elam was a college punter at Hawaii. Paul Ernster, who is fully recovered from knee surgery in his right (plant) foot, and untested free agents Jeff Williams and Tyler Fredrickson also options for the job.

Elam had to change his kicking style a bit, but still managed to make every kick he tried.

A brief excerpt depicts soldiers fighting using a number of not-so-subtle football analogies. Elam, who was caught in a shootout in the Gaza Strip last year, is also learning Biblical Greek in an effort to gain a better understanding of the Bible. We imagine he and Travis Henry have very different off-seasons.

Elam said he could have some issues with a nerve in the leg. He is optimistic about playing on Sunday and the Broncos did not bring in any other kickers to workout.

Elam is listed as probable and the Broncos haven’t signed anyone to kick in his place. He’s connected on 8-of-11 field goal tries through four games.

Elam and the special teams unit rushed on the field with time expiring, quickly set up, and nailed the kick. A third miss would have been Elam’s most ever.

Elam has family in Atlanta. The Falcons need a kicker unless they want to bring Morten Andersen back again. Andersen turns 48 before the season.
