The NFL is looking into moving the NFL Draft from Madison Square Garden to the Javits Center on the West side of Manhattan.
MSG is aggresively trying to block the Jets’ new stadium, which the NFL supports.

The MTA of New York is asking the New York Jets for $300 million for the land the Jets want for their new stadium.
The 13-acre site on the West side of Manhattan is currently home to the Long Island Rail Road yard. The Jets were reportedly willing to pay $100 million for the land.

Jets hired Mike Heimerdinger, formerly of the Titans, as their new offensive coordinator.
A really bad sign for Tennessee that Heimerdinger wanted to make a lateral move. Heimerdinger is the anti Paul Hackett - he loves downfield throws and aggression in the passing game. Good news for Santana Moss and Justin McCareins.

ESPN New York would be “stunned” if OC Brian Schottenheimer is back with the Jets in 2012.
According to “league insiders,” the Jets are “trying to save as much as possible” on the $3.2 million remaining on Schottenheimer’s contract, hence their refusal to simply fire a coach who is clearly no longer a part of their plans. Schottenheimer reportedly interviewed for the Jaguars’ head-coaching vacancy on Friday, but ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini believes Schottenheimer would even be willing to make a lateral move before returning to the Jets.

Ex-Chiefs coach Todd Haley is reportedly meeting with the Jets on Wednesday.
It looks like last week’s reports of Haley and ex-Dolphins coach Tony Sparano joining forces could come to fruition with the Jets. Sparano would be offensive coordinator in charge of the running game while Haley would take over as passing game coordinator and assistant head coach. Haley spent six seasons with the Jets under Bill Parcells early in his coaching career.

Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer resigned.
The decision is mutual, as the Jets made it clear through back-channels their embattled playcaller would not be back. The announcement he’s leaving came barely an hour after the Jaguars hired Mike Mularkey as head coach, a job for which Schottenheimer had been in the running. He was also connected to the offensive-coordinator vacancy at the University of Florida, though the Gators hired former Boise State OC Brent Pease on Tuesday. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that former Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano is expected to replace Schottenheimer on Rex Ryan’s staff.

Jets OC Brian Schottenheimer has reportedly withdrawn his name from the University of Florida offensive coordinator job.
Schottenheimer wants to remain in the NFL, and who can blame him? A team source confirms to the New York Daily News that Schottenheimer will remain the primary play caller if he does return to the Jets. We remain skeptical that he will be back with Gang Green.

A “league source” tells the New York Daily News the Jets are “looking at other coaching options” in the event OC Brian Schottenheimer leaves for another job.
The writing isn’t just on the wall that Schottenheimer is unlikely to be back with the Jets in 2012, it’s starting to cover it up. The Jets are simply holding out hope Schottenheimer finds another job so they don’t have to fire him. Potential replacements should start being bandied about in the coming days.

Updating an earlier item, the New York Post reports the Jets are considering Tony Sparano and Dirk Koetter as potential replacements “if” OC Brian Schottenheimer leaves.
“If” since Schottenheimer appears to be all but gone. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported earlier Saturday that Sparano and Todd Haley were considering making themselves a package deal as offensive coordinators, with Sparano managing the run game and Haley handling the passing attack. One or both would be an improvement on Schottenheimer, who went with a number of questionable game-plans in 2011.

Former Chiefs coach Todd Haley will be at Jets headquarters Thursday to interview about a position on Rex Ryan’s offensive staff.
The Jets named Tony Sparano as offensive coordinator Wednesday, but he’s expected to focus on the run game. Haley would be a passing-game coordinator, possibly with a receivers coach subtitle. Haley is weighing the Jets’ interest against an assistant coaching offer from the Cardinals. The Jets have lost OL coach Bill Callahan, OC Brian Schottenheimer, and WRs coach Henry Ellard since the season ended, so their offensive staff is being revamped.
