Packers selected Bowling Green DL Karl Brooks with the No. 179 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Brooks (6’4/296) was a no-star outside linebacker recruit in the 2018 recruiting class, from Lansing, Michigan, according to 247 Sports. Brooks is a converted Linebacker, putting on almost 80 pounds in college. This weight hasn’t hindered him as he still possesses a flashy first step that was more than sufficient for his MAC competition. He is powerful and is rarely completely derailed on getting where he needs to go. Brooks drew quite a few flags while playing at Bowling Green, as his thick build encouraged linemen to get their arms wrapped around their waist. He is a bit of a linear athlete and doesn’t redirect well once he reaches the backfield. While Brooks has some positional versatility, he projects best as a run-stopping three Tech after playing mostly DE in an odd-front in college.
