Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III (oblique) is doubtful to play in Week 3 against the Dolphins.
The Seahawks’ Friday injury report has yet to be released but Walker was unable to go on both Wednesday and Thursday. Early-week practice participation next week would bode positively for his Week 4 availability. Backup RB Zach Charbonnet handled 100.0 percent of the running back touches last week (14 rushing attempts and five targets), while No. 3 RB Kenny McIntosh logged just two total offensive snaps. Charbonnet is a volume-based RB2 against the Dolphins.

Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker (chest) did not participate in Wednesday practice.
Walker had dealt with a calf injury earlier in the season, and is now on the injury report with a chest issue. He has been out-snapped by Zach Charbonnet in back-to-back games, though both matchups were against stingy Ravens and Browns defenses. If Walker is not fully healthy, that would open the door for Charbonnet to see an increase in opportunities. RB DeeJay Dallas (shoulder) also missed practice while RB Kenny McIntosh (knee) was a full participant.

Zach Charbonnet (hamstring) was removed from the Week 8 injury report and will play against the Browns.
Charbonnet missed Week 7 because of the hamstring issue but was a full participant in practice this week. He will reclaim his backup duties this week. Fellow rookie running back Kenny McIntosh remains out with a knee injury.

Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday.
Charbonnet missed Week 7 and now starts this week off with a limited practice. He has been the clear backup to Kenneth Walker this season, but could see an increased role if Walker (calf) can’t play and Charbonnet’s hamstring heals up. Fellow rookie RB Kenny McIntosh (knee) was also limited in practice, but DeeJay Dallas is currently the sole healthy back for the Seahawks.
  • SEA Running Back #25
Seahawks designated RB Kenny McIntosh (knee) to return from IR.
McIntosh was diagnosed with a sprained left knee in early August and was placed on Injured Reserve. The rookie 7th round pick impressed in the offseason with head coach Pete Carroll calling him “special” and saying he had already emerged as a leader in the RB room. With Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet operating ahead of him, McIntosh in unlikely to have a major fantasy role, but the Seahawks now have 21 days to decide whether they want to activate him or not.

Seahawks RB Kenny McIntosh (knee/hamstring) will not play in Week 1 against the Rams.
McIntosh was diagnosed with a sprained left knee nearly a month ago and was already in line to miss several weeks while recovering from the injury. McIntosh didn’t log a practice this week, the team’s decision to not place him on short-term injured reserve suggests he could be back in another week or two. Once he’s back, McIntosh will be low in the pecking order for touches with Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet playing well ahead of him on the depth chart.

Seahawks rookie RB Kenny McIntosh is sidelined multiple weeks with a sprained left knee.
It is just the latest Seahawks backfield injury this summer, though Zach Charbonnet (shoulder) recently resumed practicing. Ken Walker’s groin issue is not considered serious. McIntosh has gotten some love from coach Pete Carroll, but he would require an in-season Walker or Charbonnet issue to have any shot at re-draft value.

Ken Walker is sidelined from Seahawks practice with a groin injury.
Coach Pete Carroll made it sound like Walker could be sidelined a decent amount of time as the team waits for the issue to “quiet down.” He did hint it was more caution than concern keeping Walker on the shelf. The news comes as Carroll also announced Zach Charbonnet is out indefinitely with a shoulder issue. That leaves DeeJay Dallas and rookie Kenny McIntosh as the top dogs for now. It sounds like Walker should be back sooner than Charbonnet, but that is never easy to predict in Carroll’s world. All we know right now is that it’s a mess. Expect updates as the week goes on.
  • SEA Running Back #25
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said RB Kenny McIntosh “easily” could have been taken in the third round.
Carroll went on to say that McIntosh is a “special” RB and noted that he is already thought of as a leader in the RB room. Though all this positive talk probably doesn’t augur well for Deejay Dallas, Carroll also said Ken Walker had a “fantastic” offseason. Carroll is often extremely positive and offers a lot of praise about his players in public, so we wouldn’t necessarily get carried away with this, but the fact that he got this kind of praise this soon does put McIntosh on the monitor list this offseason.

Seahawks selected Georgia RB Kenny McIntosh with the No. 237 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Pete Carroll loves his running backs, doesn’t he folks? McIntosh (6’/204) was a backup for most of his time at Georgia but made an impact as a pass catcher and a kick returner before earning the starting job in 2022. He posted a pedestrian rushing line of 149/829/10 but was unstable as a receiver out of the backfield. McIntosh caught 43 passes for 505 yards and a pair of scores. Things came apart at the combine after McIntosh ran a 4.62 40-yard dash followed by a 7.66 three-cone drill. He earned a 4.1 relative athletic score. McIntosh will likely serve as a third-down specialist and a specials teams contributor because of his poor athleticism. Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet are likely to split Seattle’s backfield to start the season.
