Cowboys blocked the Eagles’ requests to interview offensive coordinator Klayton Adams for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
It would be a lateral move for Adams, so the Cowboys are allowed to block the interview and keep him in Dallas. Adams joined the Cowboys in 2025 after spending a few years as the Cardinals’ offensive line coach. Dallas erupted this year, finishing seventh in points per game and second in yards per game. Javonte Williams and George Pickens both had career years while Dak Prescott bounced back after a down 2024 campaign. Adams will be back with the team next year, though another elite showing from the offense could get him head coaching interviews next offseason.

Cowboys hired Cardinals OL coach Klayton Adams for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
The Cowboys moved quickly with Adams, giving him a virtual interview earlier this week before meeting in person with him today. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones previously stressed the importance of the run game when talking about what the team was looking for in an offensive coordinator. Adams served as Arizona’s offensive line coach for two seasons. The team ranked ninth and seventh in rush yards per game. The next step in the Cowboys’ efforts to improve their ground game will be retooling their backfield. Ezekiel Elliott was cut before the end of the season and Rico Dowdle is a free agent, leaving the team with a massive opening at running back.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Cardinals’ OL coach Klayton Adams will interview with the Cowboys on Friday for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
This is a second interview for Adams, who spoke with the team remotely earlier this week. Considered by many to be the frontrunner to land the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator vacancy, there’s a good chance Adams will find himself in a new role before the weekend. The Cowboys’ rushing game needs more than an upgrade at offensive coordinator, but this is a backfield that is expected to see a massive overhaul during the offseason with Ezekiel Elliott no longer in the building and Rico Dowdle set to hit free agency.

Cowboys interviewed Cardinals OL coach Klayton Adams for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Adams spent four years with the Colts before joining Arizona in his current role two seasons ago. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said earlier this week that the team needs a coordinator who is “outstanding in the run game area.” Klayton’s Cardinals averaged 144 rushing yards per game last year, seventh-most in the league. They ranked eighth in EPA per rush attempt. Newly minted head coach Brian Schottenheimer will be calling the plays in Dallas, but Adams could be a helpful addition to the staff.

CBS’ Jonathan Jones reports Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer is interested in Cardinals offensive line coach Klayton Adams to fill Dallas’ offensive coordinator vacancy.
Adams joined the Arizona staff in 2023 after Jonathan Gannon’s hiring. He has also spent time with the Colts as their assistant offensive line coach and tight ends coach, and co-coordinated Colorado’s 2018 offense with Darrin Chiaverini. Yes, that’s right, the man responsible for Steven Montez mania could coach the Cowboys offense. We’d guess that Brian Schottenheimer would retain playcalling duties if this were to come to pass.
