AFC South rivals Indianapolis (2-3) and Tennessee (0-5) meet Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium with both teams looking to keep pace in the division. The Colts take the field in Week 6 in second in the division but struggling to find a rhythm...and if the Colts are having a hard time, what does that say about the winless Titans?
The Titans are coming off a disappointing 26-3 home loss to the Texans last weekend in which their offense managed just 187 total yards and failed to find the end zone. Cam Ward has failed to take a step in his second season. Yes, he completed 23 of 36 passes but for only 170 yards. He is struggling to move the offense. Explosive plays have been non-existent this season for the Tennessee offense. The inability to finish possessions has been a recurring theme during their 0-5 start. Indianapolis had similar issues in the second half of their 34-22 loss to Pittsburgh last week. Indy actually outgained Pittsburgh, 352-332, and were 2-2 in the Red Zone, but they just did not get into the endzone in the second half settling for three field goals. Meanwhile, their defense wilted in the second half. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Daniel Jones and co.
Cam Ward’s development remains the organization’s top priority, but they may well be looking for a signal-caller in the 2027 Draft if the second-year pro fails to show any signs of growth over the next couple months. With Ward under center, the Titans are averaging a league low 11.6 points per game. On the other side, Jones has not been the player he was last season for the Colts prior to his Achilles injury. The veteran has passed for 1,021 yards but just three touchdowns and four interceptions. As a result of Jones’ struggles, the offense has relied more than ever on Jonathan Taylor. The veteran already has 398 rushing yards and six touchdowns. If Indy can establish Taylor early, it should create favorable situations for Jones against the Titans’ defense and it will be up to Jones to find a way to get his team into the endzone.
Beyond the quarterbacks, several key storylines surround this matchup. Tennessee desperately needs an offensive breakthrough after averaging just 11.6 points per game, the lowest mark in the league, and another divisional loss would put the Titans in an even deeper hole. Indianapolis, meanwhile, has dominated this rivalry recently, winning eight consecutive meetings, including both matchups last season...and they need to extend the streak to nine. The Colts will look to capitalize on a favorable home matchup against a winless opponent and keep pace in the AFC South race.
Let’s dive into the numbers and see if we can’t find an additional sweat or two.

Here are the best bets our model is projecting for Sunday’s game between the Titans and the Colts:
- Moneyline: NBC Sports is staying away from a play on the Moneyline.
- Spread: NBC Sports is recommending a play on the Colts -7.0.
- Total: NBC Sports is staying away from a play on the Total of 44.5.
Here’s why the Colts -7.0 is the Best Bet:
This matchup is a genuine mismatch and it is not because the Colts are elite at anything. Tennessee ranks 32nd in points scored (11.6 per game), 32nd in total yards (277.2 per game), 32nd in plays (54.6 per game), and 32nd in touchdowns (1.2 per game). They’re 29th in yards per play (5.08), 31st in yards per reception (9.93), 31st in yards per pass attempt (5.78), and 32nd in touchdown percentage (2.2%). That’s the worst offense in football by almost every efficiency measure. Indy’s defense has been vulnerable but doubtful the Titans can exploit the deficiencies of the Colts as Cam Ward and co. have scored ten or fewer points in three of their five games.
