The offseason is a worrisome time for NFL players, even when they’re not NFL players any longer.

According to Jim Kleinpeter of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, former Patriots and Saints cornerback Randall Gay was arrested after a disturbance at a Baton Rouge bar.

Gay was charged with entry or remaining on premises when forbidden, two counts of simple battery, resisting an officer and disturbing the peace by public intoxication. Which is a lot of words for what sounds like a bar fight.

Police also arrested a woman, Desha Penco, for interfering with police officer and simple damage to property when she tried to kick out the window of the police car. Penco is listed as Gay’s wife in his Saints bio.

Both were released on bond this morning.

Gay won a national championship at LSU, and a pair of Super Bowls in the NFL. He retired after the 2010 season, which he finished on injured reserve after suffering a concussion.
