On Thursday, Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano declined to talk to reporters about quarterback Josh Freeman. Freeman declined to talk at all.
Via Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com, Freeman darted out of the locker room as the media entered. Eventually, a member of the team’s P.R. staff explained that Freeman declined to talk.
Regardless of the reason or the identify of the person(s) who made the decision, every player must be available twice per week to the media -- once during the week and once after each game. Other players have tried to avoid talking to the media, and the league routinely has explained that they’ll either comply or be fined.
Former NFL receiver Randy Moss once tried to strike a middle ground after being fined $25,000 by asking himself the questions.
The next day, Moss was cut by the Vikings.
Given that Freeman would surely love to get cut by the Bucs, maybe he should do the same thing.
